UV Travel Umbrella

This UV blocking sun umbrella is great because you always have instant shade with you wherever you go! Fits perfectly in a purse or in the glove compartment of a car. And, best of all, the versatile Sun Travel Umbrella keeps you cool under the sun and dry when it rains.

A cute and compact sun umbrella. It’s a great sun block that keeps you cooler, or dryer if need be. A great travel companion for wherever umbrellas are allowed. Yes, I know if’s officially fall, but maybe we can hold on to summer a little longer. (think like a balloonist – only use your  UV umbrella in winds less than 10 knots)

auto open and close. better UV protection than a regular rain umbrella.

18 page board book, Zonderkidz August 2, 2016

Pumpkin Patch Blessings celebrates fall and shows little ones there are blessings all around us, especially in the pumpkin patch! The sweet rhyming text by Kim Washburn and whimsical illustrations by Jacqueline East bring autumn alive for readers young and old as they take in the fun of the fall season and remember how much they have to be grateful for.

Simple and predictable rhyme story. Neither the rhymes nor the story were very interesting. The illustrations provided lots to explore and are what made the book any good at all. The mention of God’s creation and the blessings that a pumpkin patch brings are the two Christian themes in this toddler board book.

The BookLook Bloggers book review program provided this complimentary copy for review purposes. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.

Pumpkin Spice Sheet Cake

A Fall Favorite

077

It can’t get much easier than this one bowl recipe

Cake:

2 cups granulated sugar

1 (16oz) can pumpkin

1/2 cup oil

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

4 eggs

2 cups flour

1 Tablespoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

dash salt

Combine sugar, pumpkin, oil, applesauce and eggs in a large bowl; mix well. Add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and salt; mix until well blended. Pour into greased 9×13 inch cake pan. Bake 350 degrees 25 to 30 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Frosting:

4 oz. cream cheese

1/8 cup butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 & 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1 Tablespoon milk

Combine all frosting ingredients and mix well on low speed with an electric mixer. Spread over cooled cake. I think this amount is plenty but double the recipe if you like a LOT of frosting.

The Pumpkin Spice Latte is fall’s favorite drink. Signature espresso blended with the unmistakable spices of fall – cinnamon, nutmeg and clove – smooth with steamed milk and topped with delectably sweetened whipped cream.

-Starbucks

This is my recipe for Pumpkin Spice Latte. Enjoy a delicious Fall drink that’s simple to make and easy on the wallet.

2 cups milk

2 Tablespoons canned pumpkin

2 Tablespoons sugar

1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

2 servings of espresso

whipped cream

My original post gave directions for steaming the milk on the stove top and making the espresso with a french press. I’ve since acquired an espresso machine (yeah) and wanted to re-post this delicious recipe with this updated espresso machine version. Enjoy!

In a bowl, mix milk, pumpkin, and sugar. Make espresso in your espresso machine and divide between two cups. Then steam the milk mixture and pour on top of the espressos. Add vanilla extract and pumpkin pie spice and gently stir. Top with whipped cream.

Check out the earlier version for the stove top method including the spices needed for pumpkin pie spice and how to make your own whipped cream which I think tastes “a latte” better than whipped cream from an aerosol can!

O suns and skies and clouds of June,
And flowers of June together,
Ye cannot rival for one hour
October’s bright blue weather;

When loud the bumblebee makes haste,
Belated, thriftless vagrant,
And goldenrod is dying fast,
And lanes with grapes are fragrant;

When gentians roll their fingers tight
To save them for the morning,
And chestnuts fall from satin burrs
Without a sound of warning;

When on the ground red apples lie
In piles like jewels shining,
And redder still on old stone walls
Are leaves of woodbine twining;

When all the lovely wayside things
Their white-winged seeds are sowing,
And in the fields still green and fair,
Late aftermaths are growing;

When springs run low, and on the brooks,
In idle golden freighting,
Bright leaves sink noiseless in the hush
Of woods, for winter waiting;

When comrades seek sweet country haunts,
By twos and twos together,
And count like misers, hour by hour,
October’s bright blue weather.

O sun and skies and flowers of June,
Count all your boasts together,
Love loveth best of all the year
October’s bright blue weather.

Helen Hunt Jackson

Hope your October will be lovely!
