This review is for all those horse owners out there. Handcrafted in the USA and veterinarian approved, this mask is designed to protect eyes and skin from flies and sun while in the pasture.

Straight from the horses’ mouth, here’s the mare’s review:

The fiberglass mesh is resistant to tearing, the fastenings are placed so that it is very difficult for me to remove, and the forehead patch is like a visor and protects again the sun. It is good at keeping me fly-free on those hot, humid days. I like that the eye darts keep the mask well away from my eyes but I would prefer rounded corners near my muzzle.

Prestige masks are available in four colors and the website has a simple to use measuring chart. A Prestige mask costs more than other masks and the website’s FAQ’s addresses that reason:

Why are the Prestige Horse Fly Masks more expensive then other masks on the market?
We are often asked the question. The primary characteristic of the masks is its durability. The masks have been known to last years. Additionally, the mask is designed as such that it will prevent unnecessary bruising and injuries caused by the horse’s natural need to scratch. Although it doesn’t prevent the horse from scratching, the adjust-ability of the mask and the attention to detail from the mask being handcrafted provides greater comfort and therefore limits the need for the horse to want to have the mask removed. Overall, when purchasing a Prestige Horse Fly Mask, you are buying protection that will last.

Horse or donkey owner? Keep reading.

Here’s where you can get a custom handmade fly mask. Colorful Equine makes masks for the horse, gaited horse, burro, mini donkey, and mini horse. I reviewed the horse size mask, well, because I have a horse. There were a few different styles and I went with the regular mask with ears. The fun part was selecting the mesh color and trim color. (customized adjustments and custom colors are available- email Colorful Equine)

Mesh 6 blue and trim 9 green

The fly mask gives my mare great protection from flies and other biting insects. (wish it could help with ticks) From my inspection, it offers good, clear vision. It is the right size, easy to put on, and wears comfortably. All edges are trimmed in fleece for a rub-free design. Durable stitching and strong Velcro for closure. And let’s not forget…colorful!

Specs:  “The mesh is a TEXTILENE Synthetic Fabric (woven PVC coated polyester). It is an all weather mesh, breathable, tough, attractive, fade resistant, and offers 70% UV protection. The trim is made from fleece. The ears are a 840 Denier X 1680 Denier nylon mesh (100% Nylon). This is a very durable yet soft feeling and drapable mesh.”

About the company, written by Renee, owner of Colorful Equine:

Once the economy went sour, I lost my job.  I was employed by the same company for 13 years – what a shock to be out of work.  With so much time on my hands, I thought I might as well learn to make fly masks for my horses.  I really liked the idea of having mesh and fleece choices –  great colors, great fun, great looking masks.  My friends started requesting their favorite colors and encouraged me to go public with this idea.  I have never looked back and can honestly say, I love every minute of this – it’s fun, it’s different, and it’s colorful.  I must say, there’s nothing like a “Colorful Equine.”

Great looking and creative masks – A mask that truly compliments your horse.  Having 10 mesh colors to pick from and a variety of fleece options gives you a custom style mask.  The “Dazzle-Me” line offers a look you can’t find in any store.  Styles offered – Falling Stars, Patriotic, Spades, Aztec, and so much more.
Colorful Equine not only cares about the outside of your horse but feels the inside is pretty important also – “Improve the Lives of All Living Creatures” with Dynamite Nutritional Supplements.  A quality product  at a great price – you won’t be disappointed.

SleekEZ was formed by long-time, advanced equine dentist Jennifer Tipton.  Jennifer travels throughout the United States making horses happy, and always enjoys a pretty horse! She is a horse, kitty and dog owner, and lives in Montana where the winters are long and springs are, well, hairy. But, no matter what part of the world you are in, animals shed hair, dirt and dander year round. SleekEZ is one of the best shedding tools on the market and claimed to be better than the Furminator at half the cost!

The SleekEZ is available in three sizes: 10″, 5″, and 2½” for horses, dogs, and cats. They can be purchased separately or together in a combo pack. I tried all three sizes on both horse and cat with great results. I mean super terrific results!

It is lightweight and easy to use. The blade is exclusive to SleekEZ; the tiny teeth does a great job on removing the loose hair. It is made in the USA from “poplar wood waterproofed with a ‘green’ water-based lacquer”.

The SleekEZ is tops for shedding hair. It’s been fun sharing this locally with my horse friends. Everyone is so impressed.
