the blue dot style is 1 of 11 color choices. It’s hands-free, fashionable-casual. A grown-up’s backpack.

my mentions: I found that the drawstring closure was easy to use (easy to open and to close) which isn’t always the case with drawstring style bags. The inner cell pocket is nice but I wasn’t able to access it while wearing it. The straps are thin and get a little twisted sometimes making putting it on a thought conscious effort. Sturdy recycled canvas is machine washable.

Retro. Recycled. Really fun! Grab some of these unique designs for your baby or for a sweet gift. Shop Hanky Blanky for blankets, bibs, and infant wear that are individually hand-crafted with vintage handkerchiefs and fabrics.

Ample room to cover and wrap baby after bath or beach. Absorbent and cozy. The same waffle weave of the blankys and bibs. Choose one animal from our list……the vintage prints will vary. Completely machine washable. 100% cotton

We love the softness of the waffle-weave. It is perfect for bath and pool time. While we haven’t used the mitt very much, it might come in handy at some point later on. Just select your favorite animal appliqué and ric rak color, and there you go.

BABY BOY SHORTS SET with FLYING KITE APPLIQUE

Boy’s Shorts Set Sporty! I chose a multi-colored gingham to make these mock sailor shorts, adorning the jif-on Tee with either a kite, sailboat or jack ‘n box! FUN! Elastic around back for a snug fit and snaps open at bottom for easy diaper change. The vintage prints of the appliqués will vary. one size only: 3-9 mos. 100% cotton

The gingham shorts are roomy fitting and surprisingly the only shorts the little guy has with those helpful ” bottom location” snaps. Looks spiffy and machine washes nicely.  Both the towel set and romper set will be baby keepsakes♥

LED Task Lighting by Little Footprint Lighting

Enjoy the video below about the greenest LED desk lamp ever- from Little Footpring Lighting. Founder Nancy Wahl-Scheurich discusses why and how her company created the HeronLED, first ENERGY STAR qualified LED desk lamp made in the USA from recycled e-waste.

Energy-Saving. Environmentally Friendly. Ergonomically Designed.

My desk loves this lamp!

The adjustable lamp shade and arm gives me the right amount of light where I need it. It is an Earth-kind lamp that was inspired by nature; its body was modeled after the form of the Great Blue Heron. I think it looks sophisticated.

The Heron comes with a five-year warranty. (The LED bulb lasts about 15 years! Replaceable when needed) The base, stem, arm, and shade are all made from recycled plastic; the base also contains recycled steel (locally sourced). Check out the website for more information including information on volume purchases and LEED certification.

American Recycled Apparel

SustainU is a clothing company focused on changing the way clothes are made to improve the environment, reinvigorate America’s manufacturing sector, and educate the world about how clothing can positively impact people’s lives. By creating 100% recycled apparel that’s made in the USA, we want people to change the way they think about their clothing, and how they live their lives. Wear a better story.

I’m happy to share my new discovery, SustainU. This is a West Virginia-based company that makes its university and outdoor apparel from recycled pre-consumer cotton waste and post-consumer recycled polyester (PET), which is derived primarily from plastic bottles and post-industrial polyester scraps. Men, women, and children tees and hoodies are attractive and soft. Just like conventionally produced clothes, only better!

Check out their officially licensed collegiate products and see if your school is already on the list. Available to purchase online at SustainU or at select Eastern Mountain Sports retail stores.

Engage Green is an innovative green company that creates top-notch fashionable bags and accessories. The Engage Green collection is made from recycled materials, turning waste into something wonderful.
Having done a review for Engage Green in the Spring, I knew I would be in for a treat.

EG9 Penguin & Rooster Large Messenger

The Engage Green Messenger bag is perfect for back-to-school time. This bag is made from recycled plastic. It is roomy and offers many pockets for organizing. The main area is large enough for a laptop but there isn’t any padding for protection. It has a comfortable adjustable strap, a cell phone pocket, and a water bottle pocket. The material feels similar to nylon.

Wondering how recycled plastic is turned into the material for this bag?

How PETE is recycled . . .Plastics are collected from curbside recycling and drop-off locations. From there, they go to a material recovery facility, where they are sorted and sent to a reclamation facility. There, the plastic is inspected and washed. Next, it is chopped into small flakes. The flakes are placed into a flotation tank and then dried in a tumbler. The dried flakes are placed in an extruder where they are melted. The melted plastic is sifted through a screen to remove any contaminants and then it is formed into strands. Finally, the strands are chopped into pellets and sold to manufacturers to make new products, such as the fabric that is used to create Engage Green designs.

Did you know . . . It takes 18 post-consumer 16 oz. plastic drinking bottles to make one yard of our material?

My on-the-go messenger bag tells the message. The message that there’s a better way.

We turn consumerism into something positive by engaging what we call [The Green Cycle] – choosing the right material, creating a functional design and engaging environmentally conscious consumers.
