Product Overview:

Toggle Toes™ were uniquely designed to stay on little feet with the secure toggle fastener. Tested on dozens of babies and mother approved! The non-slip sole is made with high quality Toughtek™ and will allow your child to “feel” the floor while learning how to walk. All this while keeping them warm and comfortable.

Child's slipper, booties, soft sole shoe from Toggle Toes in preshool size 24-36 months, child's shoe size 7-8

Review:

My reviewer has worn/tested a pair of Toggle Toes in preschool size (shoe size 7 -8).

These blue and cream Berber fleece slippers have been very user/mom friendly. They are easy on and easy off.  The toggle closure can be loosened and tightened for the best comfy fit. And this toggle system “ensures that the booties only come off when you want them too”.

Indeed, they have stayed on for bedtime and for all sorts of indoor play keeping reviewer’s feet warm. They have a safe non-slip (hardwood floor tested) flexible sole. And are machine washable (not washer tested yet. will update with results)

Easily available on Etsy in many sizes and fun fabric styles. You can also read more about owner Beth Rekstad and how Toggle Toes started.

Did I mention that they’re “Eco”?  Toggle Toes are a handmade item made with recycled wool sweaters and/ or polar fleece. And the workforce behind Toggle Toes? Beth has shared with me that she “approached a Hmong church in my area and have trained about 8 women to cut & sew my booties. Most have children at home and are still learning English. They are wonderful, hard working and talented women. It gives me joy to provide employment to them.” Her goal is also to donate profits in the form of booties to kids in need. wow!

I think skiing is so much fun. And so is the upcycling style of this SKI Birdhouse! This wildlife shelter says Cool. Eco. Adventurous. And while here in the South we don’t have any blizzards, this unique design will be a welcome retreat from heavy rains, gusty thunderstorms, and oppressive heat waves.

As a skier, do YOU like the idea of a Ski Birdhouse? (Please feel free to leave a comment) Or do parts of skis on a tree make you think that maybe something went wrong??!!

Xob Website

Icebox Knitting, maker of Dohm and Xob, is the picture of sustainability.
Made in Longmont, Colorado, USA, we have made Dohm wool hats on antique hand powered knitting machines since 1994. Our hats and accessories are made from world class yarns produced under the strictest environmental standards.
To further our commitment to the environment, we created Xob (say zob) an upcycled collection in 2006 . Pieces and parts of recycled wool blend sweaters and suit jackets are used to create fun and fresh designs you can wear.
We send production remnants to be used in another life cycle. Wool scraps are re-purposed into wool wiping cloths and trimming from fleece are used a filling for dog beds in an animal shelter. Sourcing previously loved sweaters, purchasing mill-end fabrics, and sending production remnants to be used in another life cycle, Icebox Knitting has diverted over sixty thousand pounds of waste from landfills.

How cool -& green- is Icebox Knitting!

This Xob review is of the Soft Visor Hat and the Pocket Scarf. (check out their website for many more styles) The upcycled materials used for Xob hats and accessories are sorted in four different color families; black/grey, blue/green, brown/tan, or brights.  When you select an Xob style and color group, your new upcycled item will be an original.

It will be unconventional. Green. And made in the USA.

Both the soft visor and the pocket scarf (blue/green) are made of 100% upcycled wool/wool blend sweaters. (Be advised if you are wool sensitive)  I find them a little itchy but I like the warmth. I always have cold hands, so the scarf is perfect for slipping my hands into. Hint to Xob – I’d love to have a scarf style available in a lightweight summer fabric!!
