This has proven to be one of my best curriculum finds! ARTistic Pursuits offers art curriculum for grades preschool through twelfth. We’ve enjoyed using the Senior High Book One this first semester. The sixteen units contain four lessons each. Lesson one is for vocabulary and creative exercise. Lesson two is for art appreciation and history. Lesson three is techniques and lesson four is application. The course is designed to be completed in one year if done two times a week. It is good for one high school credit.
It is designed so the student can independently work through the lessons. The supplies are minimal and not too costly. They are commonly found in art and hobby stores or art supply packs can be purchased from ARTistic Pursuits. {We only received the book so I can’t review the art packs} Their website has detailed information on choosing art supplies in addition to more information on all their art curriculum books.
I really like that the lessons allow the student (and parent) to choose what they would like to draw rather than assigning them something specific. I think that encourages creativity, inspiration, and enthusiasm for the assignment.
The book is non consumable. The pages for each lesson are easy to read; instructions and details are clear, organized, and illustrated.
I would like to thank Brenda Ellis for allowing me to review the Senior High Book One. I received the the ARTistic Pursuits Senior High Book One in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was received.
